Artscope Magazine included Anne Plaisance artwork "Sour Times" on their November-December issue, making a strong statement about the political situation in the United States.

The Artscope Magazine November/December issue (2018)  include a review of the Waste Not exhibition curated by Kim Triedman at Artspace in Maynard.

“‘Sour Times’ (a partially tattered but not horribly weathered 49-star American flag that’s held in place by barbed-wire) is, for me the expression of the pain that many Americans can feel right now, divided by hate, suffering from political decisions tearing apart families and friends,” Plaisance said. “This beautiful flag, with so many dreams and values, an inspiration for so many people in the world, is being constrained by the hate, fear and pain that is excruciating wherever we look.”

“One thing that I didn’t know is that very often homeless women are survivors of domestic violence and abuse, so they have high safety issues and concerns,” Plaisance says. “And to be in a tiny house, visible, it’s the [opposite] of what you should do for a homeless woman.”
